Role Overview

The Senior Project Manager will oversee the full life cycle of commercial solar EPC projects — from preconstruction through closeout. This includes managing construction teams, ensuring project readiness, and driving field execution while upholding safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Preconstruction Leadership

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and schedules for constructability and execution planning.
  • Collaborate with estimating during bid phases to validate scope, phasing, and manpower projections.
  • Participate in subcontractor scope reviews, pre-award meetings, and risk assessments.
  • Assist in developing preliminary construction schedules and procurement timelines.
  • Lead internal handoff meetings to ensure a seamless transition from estimating to field teams.

Construction Execution

  • Oversee field execution from mobilization to final closeout.
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules, manpower plans, and three-week lookaheads.
  • Coordinate civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes to ensure efficient installation.
  • Conduct site visits and lead weekly construction meetings with internal teams and subcontractors.

Cost & Contract Management

  • Manage project budgets, cost controls, and change orders throughout construction.
  • Review and approve pay applications and monitor committed vs. actual costs.
  • Provide budget forecasts, variance reports, and enforce subcontractor compliance with contract documents.

Team & Field Coordination

  • Supervise construction managers, field engineers, and foremen.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Warehouse teams for timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for performance, safety, and schedule adherence.
  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for RFIs, issue resolution, and field decisions.

Compliance & Project Closeout

  • Ensure compliance with contracts, customer requirements, OSHA, NEC, and local codes.
  • Maintain daily logs, inspection records, and quality control documentation.
  • Oversee punch list completion, as-built documentation, and final turnover packages.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of commercial solar EPC project management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, sequencing, field logistics, and risk management.
  • OSHA 30 required; PMP, NABCEP, or similar certifications are a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from preconstruction through final turnover, including budgets of $5M+.
  • Skilled in subcontractor management, contract interpretation, and innovative project execution.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Project, and Office 365.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage internal and external teams.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites as needed and live within commuting distance of Hawthorne, NJ.

Hawthorne, NJ – Hybrid flexibility available (must reside within the region and travel to job sites as needed).
