About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Civil Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for site design with a focus on stormwater drainage, site grading, utility design, and navigating local agency reviews. You will work closely with architects, project managers, and fellow engineers to deliver high-quality civil designs from schematic design (SD) through construction administration (CA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage site designs, including stormwater drainage systems, site grading plans, and utility layouts.
  • Prepare, review, and finalize engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with local agencies to ensure regulatory compliance and secure project approvals.
  • Perform detailed site analyses, including grading, hydrology, and stormwater management studies.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications and other regulatory documentation.
  • Collaborate with architects, planners, contractors, and internal teams for seamless project delivery.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to meet client and organizational goals.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards and integrate best practices into design work.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff as required.
  • Support the construction phase by answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits.
  • Ensure construction is executed according to design intent and specifications.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Minimum of 6 years’ professional experience in civil engineering, focused on site design.
  • Proven experience with local agency reviews and navigating regulatory processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent software).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to travel 10–25% for site visits and project requirements (including possible overnight stays).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices and SITES certification processes.
  • Experience with Land F/X and other civil design software.
  • Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulic modeling software.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred).

  • Supervision: Works under specific direction, follows established procedures, and receives periodic performance checks.
