We are looking for an experienced Network Infrastructure Engineer to join a project based in Long Island City, NY. This is a long-term position, with an expected duration of 72 months. The role will involve supporting network infrastructure at all NYC Health Department locations, including the construction of a new Public Health Laboratory (PHL) in Harlem. The position may require both on-site work and remote work as needed.

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will work closely with the NYC Health Department, external construction teams, equipment vendors, and other specialists to implement core network infrastructure hardware and software. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the successful integration and interconnectivity of the network systems across various NYC Health Department locations.

Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and managing IT network architecture to support communication and data exchange. You will configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls, and implement security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats. Additionally, you will troubleshoot connectivity problems, deploy virtual network infrastructure, and coordinate network equipment installation with other teams.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience working in a structured cabling environment. Preference will be given to candidates with five or more years of experience. You should be familiar with IT network design principles, cabling standards, and various IT networking technologies. Additionally, experience in coordinating with general contractors, architects, and external vendors is required. The role also requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment comfortably and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Your role will also involve working with the NYC Health Department to ensure network equipment is installed to industry standards and coordinating with other teams to address infrastructure needs at the new PHL site. You will be expected to implement backup strategies, work with field support teams, and ensure physical security as directed by NYC Cyber Command and other relevant bodies.
