We are a premier MEP consulting engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for our Ames or newly formed Des Moines office. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our team to serve many of the most prestigious institutions and architects working in the education and civic market sectors. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for performing and/or overseeing all aspects of electrical and lighting systems design for central Iowa projects. The ideal candidate is expected to take a leadership role within the firm by working directly with clients, performing both technical engineering and project management roles. This position has amble career growth opportunities as the firm continues to expand. All inquiries will be kept confidential. This position is open in Ames or Des Moines, IA, and Omaha, NE.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Design and analysis of building power, lighting, and fire alarm systems
  • Design and analysis of low-voltage systems (fire alarm, communications, security, public address, etc.)
  • Code review and calculations related to electrical systems
  • Use of electrical and lighting systems design software
  • Production of electrical construction drawings and specifications
  • Construction phase activities such as submittal review, site visits, response to contractor questions, issue resolution, etc.


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Minimum of four years’ experience designing electrical systems for buildings
  • Experience with design of power distribution and lighting systems
  • Experience with design software packages (Revit and electrical design software)
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members and clients
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Iowa and/or Nebraska is helpful, but not required.
  • Experience with telecom, electronic security, and audio-visual systems is helpful, but not required.
