About the job

The Electrical Engineer position involves working on projects in heavy industry, metals, chemical/petrochemical, or environmental sectors. Responsibilities include:

  • Group leadership
  • Meeting with clients
  • Preparing proposals
  • Coordinating with other disciplines
  • Breaker and starter sizing
  • Conduit and cable sizing
  • 2-D orthographic design drawing development
  • Single line and network diagram development
  • Project forecasts
  • Cost estimates, project and budget management
  • Electrical systems installation review during construction for compliance with construction documents
  • Potential collaboration with DLZ’s other offices on architectural and civil projects


Responsibilities & Duties

  • Lead Electrical Engineer, mentor other electrical staff
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and work in a team environment
  • Manage multiple projects within established schedules and budgets
  • Work on a variety of project types, scales, and complexities
  • Assist in developing feasibility studies
  • Communicate and coordinate with clients to develop scopes, prepare proposals, oversee installations, and manage budgets
  • Perform all work safely and responsibly, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan
  • Represent the company and its core values positively
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Ten or more years of relevant work experience in the industrial sector (15+ preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration required
  • Knowledge of NEC, IEC, ISA & IEEE design standards is a plus
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit skills preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Specification writing skills required.
  • Management experience of electrical an engineering group is preferred.
  • Arc-flash study experience a plus.
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
